Standard Operating Procedure: Performance Verification Using the Winpower Handheld Analyzer
Purpose and Scope
The integrity of all service documentation is dependent on the accuracy of performance data. This document provides the standard operating procedure for using the Winpower handheld oxygen analyzer to verify the performance of medical oxygen concentrators. The procedure covers the measurement of three key performance indicators: oxygen concentration, output flow, and system pressure. Adherence to this protocol is mandatory for ensuring that all service reports are built on a foundation of verifiable and trustworthy information.
Equipment Overview
The Winpower handheld analyzer is a purpose-built instrument for service professionals. Its measurement capabilities are:
- Oxygen Concentration: 21% to 95.6%
- Output Flow: 0 to 10 L/min
- System Pressure
The device features a rechargeable internal battery and a simple three-button interface for power, backlight, and mode selection.
Pre-Test Protocol
Correct usage begins before the device is connected to a concentrator. The following preparatory steps are required to ensure data accuracy and prevent equipment damage.
- Battery and Charging: To maintain battery health and device compatibility, the analyzer must be charged using the supplied 12-watt charger.
- Concentrator Preparation: It is a critical procedural step to remove any humidifier bottle from the oxygen concentrator being tested. This action prevents moisture from entering the analyzer and compromising its internal sensors.
Measurement Procedure
- Power On and Stabilize: Power on both the Winpower analyzer and the oxygen concentrator. A brief warm-up period is required for systems to stabilize.
- Allow approximately 10 seconds for the analyzer.
- Allow up to 5 minutes for the oxygen concentrator. This ensures that collected data reflects the machine’s steady operational state.
- Connect Equipment: Securely connect the analyzer’s inlet port to the oxygen outlet of the concentrator.
- Capture Data: Using the mode selection button, cycle through the display screens to capture readings for oxygen concentration (%), flow (L/min), and pressure.
- Document Results: Record the stabilized measurements in the official service report. Following this disciplined protocol ensures that all performance verifications are definitive.
